Bollettino - December 2025
Bollettino - Background

New Horizons

Adapting to change, accepting uncertainty and complexity, and recognizing the opportunities they bring. The “New Horizons” of a world in constant and rapid transformation can only be flexible and shifting. Amid geopolitical tensions, technological accelerations, and environmental and demographic challenges, the old reference points have fallen away. In this Bollettino, we have analyzed the changes underway to try to get our bearings and navigate uncertainty, guided by a single compass: knowledge.

In the whirlwind of change, we are called upon to face profound and often unexpected transformations. From geopolitical shocks to the accelerated evolution of new technologies and artificial intelligence, to social, demographic, and climate challenges. Being an active part of change will be necessary to redefine our collective future.

Europe’s challenge is independence in the sense of resilience. This means the ability to adapt, ensure its own security, sustain its economies, and innovate technologically.

Change is no longer just a bridge between past and future. It has become the constant terrain on which the world moves. From work to technology, from geopolitics to public institutions, everything unfolds amid acceleration, demanding both the ability to adapt and the skill to steer the flow.

The demographic curve is not a predetermined fate, it is shaped by economic and political choices. Managing immigration, investing in youth education, and making a country inclusive and open can make all the difference.

While the planet is in peril, Lucas Foglia has traveled the world, capturing images that reveal humanity’s dependence on nature, even in the heart of overcrowded metropolises. An intrinsic need for wild spaces, even when those spaces are human-made.
