    Environmental management system

    Applying our Group Policy for the Environment and Climate implies an ability to effectively manage the most significant environmental issues. To this end, in 2009 we introduced a Group Environmental Management System (EMS) that meets the requirements of the ISO14001 standard.

    The System has become bigger over time: today it encompasses around 70 Group company sites and over 350 local offices, covering 41% of our employees and 85% of total gross direct premiums. The premises included in the EMS are located in seven countries (Austria,Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Switzerland), but our commitment to improving environmental performance is global and affects all the countries where we are present.

    Environmental management system

    In accordance with ISO 14001, we ensure proper implementation of the EMS and achievement of its objectives through periodic internal audits, constant monitoring and a disclosure system that provides for six-monthly reports and an annual “Inventory of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions of the Generali Group” which quantifies, analyses and reports on GHG emissions in a clear, detailed and transparent way.
    To improve the credibility of our reports and the results achieved, since 2011 we have requested and obtained certification in accordance with ISO 14064-1 from the certification body RINA Services SpA, for Generali’s inventory of direct GHG emissions (Scope 1) and indirect GHG emissions from energy consumption (Scope 2).
