Generali Milano Marathon 2019

A record-breaking run!

On April 7th, the Generali Milano Marathon took place in Milan with Generali playing the leading role as title sponsor and ended with record numbers: thanks to the time achieved by the Kenyan winners Titus Ekiru and Vivian Kiplagat, it is the fastest 42km in Italy and has established itself among the best races in the international calendar.

6534 people were at the starting line of the Generali Marathon and 3552 teams participated in the Europ Assistance Relay Marathon, including the team of Group managers composed of the General Manager Frédéric de Courtois, the CEO of Generali Deutschland Giovanni Liverani, the Group Communication & Public Affairs Director Simone Bemporad and the Head of General Manager Office Bernardino Provera.

"An extraordinary sport event for everyone. I saw enthusiasm, preparation, solidarity with the many non-profit organizations including our The Human Safety Net. Congratulations to the organization, to Milan and to all the participants who made this Generali Marathon unique", commented Simone Bemporad.

More than 300 Generali employees, divided into 68 teams, actively participated in the initiative, not only by challenging themselves with the race, but by giving full support to the project The Human Safety Net Ora di Futuro, which achieved record-breaking fundraising. Thanks to Rete del Dono and the contribution of Group employees, €33,256 were donated, of which €1,608 only at the Generali-The Human Safety Net stand on Sunday. More than €600 were raised during the “Run 4 The Human Safety Net” initiative, which saw Generali donate €1 for each km covered on the treadmills located in the Generali Tower and MiCo in the days before the event.

The money raised was donated to the non-profit organizations that, as part of The Human Safety Net project, work to help children aged 0-6 coming from families living in difficult situations or social exclusion to develop their potential with tools supporting their parents.

As underlined by the new strategic plan Generali 2021, Generali wants to become a true life-time partner, able to assist people in every aspect of their daily lives, starting from promoting a healthy lifestyle and well-being of through participative sport. The sponsorship program aims at creating an ever stronger bond between Generali and the areas in which it operates, promoting initiatives of social relevance for all communities.
