GOSP: From Babyboomers to GenZ

Jana Flock from Generali Operations Service Platform S.r.l. - German branch
GOSP’s Generations Exchange

Inspired by a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion initiative from Generali Austria, we launched the application phase on a tandem mentoring program this summer because having a quite high average in age we wanted to foster the exchange between our more senior and our younger colleagues. Apparently we touched a nerve, because amazingly more than 80 people from different countries, functions and hierarchies applied to join the program!

It involves a regular dialogue based on shared interests between couples who have an age difference of around 15 years. Both partners bring their learning wishes and expertise to their meetings and discuss with each other on ‘eye level’, no matter how big the difference in age or hierarchy might be.

They exchange about topics from “tips for stakeholder management”, over “my expectations about leadership” to “navigating social media”. From time to time we provide some “food for thought” like articles, podcasts, videos to inspire their conversations. All about topics worth to discuss from different generational perspectives.

We strongly believe that every generation should have a seat at the table and we want our people to benefit both from the experience of the senior colleagues as well as from the new perspectives and the entrepreneurial spirit that our young colleagues are bringing to the workplace.

I am very happy to be part of this innovative initiative in GOSP! I am trying to make it as fruitful as possible for all participants and am thankful about the support I am receiving from our DEI Council and our GCOO.
