Venice - The Human Safety Net, the global foundation initiated by Generali with the mission of unlocking the potential of people living in vulnerable conditions through its For Families and For Refugees programs, announces its collaboration with artist Marinella Senatore. The project stems from a strong shared vision in which community and participation are key elements for fostering real social transformation.

Focussed on themes such as community, personal growth, and inclusion, We Rise by Lifting Others comes to life as an artistic project that places families with children aged 0 to 6 at risk of social exclusion supported by The Human Safety Net — at its core. The Foundation, which operates as an open and inclusive net currently comprising 85 NGOs across 25 countries, supports parents during the crucial early childhood phase through its For Families program. This is a period in which a child’s brain forms more than one million new neural connections every second and is particularly sensitive to environmental influences. Through parenting support pathways, The Human Safety Net offers parents the opportunity to strengthen confidence and autonomy by providing resources, guidance, and access to support networks, while creating safe and nurturing home environments from the very beginning of life. This approach fosters caring relationships, promoting the development of children and the entire family. At the same time, through early learning programs, it offers children opportunities to learn, supporting their cognitive, emotional, and social development.

Marinella Senatore is a multidisciplinary artist trained in music, fine arts, and film. Her practice is defined by a strong collective and participatory dimension, both in methodology and in the content of her works. In her work, aesthetic research serves the transformative power of social engagement. Through the use of traditional and vernacular forms of expression – including pop culture, dance, music, and mass events – as well as activism, Marinella Senatore reflects on the political nature of collective formations and rituals and on their potential for social change, creating moments of encounter and shared experience.

With We Rise by Lifting Others, artist Marinella Senatore once again chooses to share her authorship and involve parents and children in the artistic creation process, reaching three different cities with creative workshops in writing, reading, and movement. These are genuine moments of collective sharing and growth, where participants can create space and imagine new possible ways of being together. The workshops both prepare the ground for the creation of the artwork and offer a transformative opportunity for parents to exchange ideas, reflect, evolve, and spend quality time with their little ones in an environment rooted in inclusion and creativity. In Warsaw—where the project was launched on December 9 and 10—the artist engaged with the community of the NGO Ta Szansa (“This Opportunity”), a partner of The Human Safety Net within the For Families program. The journey continued in Mestre, where a new stop took place in early January with the Casa Famiglia San Pio X Institute, and it will conclude in Palermo with the Centro per la Salute delle Bambine e dei Bambini.

Engaging people is not just a working method, but the heart of my creative process”, said Marinella SenatoreI have had the opportunity to meet, involve, and be inspired by around 8 million people, giving life to collective works capable of generating new ideas of community. In The Human Safety Net, I found an organization with a vision aligned with my own, one with which I can truly offer concrete support to children, parents, and families through creativity. It is a synergistic and fertile collaboration that has also allowed me, among other things, to connect for the first time with a new community—the Polish one.”

The phrases, ideas, and images gathered during the workshops will form the foundation of Marinella Senatore’s exhibition, which will open alongside the launch of the 61st Venice Art Biennale. The exhibition is conceived for the Art Studio, the space dedicated to contemporary art within The Home of the Human Safety Net, located in the historic Procuratie in St. Mark’s Square in Venice—restored by Sir David Chipperfield and now a hub of culture and social inclusion in the heart of the city.

The exhibition will enter into dialogue with the permanent interactive show A World of Potential, curated by Orna Cohen and designed by Studio Migliore+Servetto, allowing visitors to the Home to discover their own potential in a radically new, future‑oriented way through 16 multimedia installations whose message reflects the values of the Foundation

At The Home of the Human Safety Net art becomes a lens through which to address major themes of inclusion,” explains Emma Ursich, CEO of The Human Safety Net.Through the talent and sensitivity of artists, we can reach an even broader audience with a universal language and engage them in fostering a global conversation on social impact. The decision to collaborate with Marinella Senatore stems from the desire to strengthen this goal by truly placing the families we support at the center. This collaboration will allow many mothers and fathers to access a participatory artistic process for the first time, becoming protagonists of it.”

With We Rise by Lifting Others, The Human Safety Net adds another important element to its mission, which is consistently focused on generating concrete and measurable impacts in terms of growth and inclusion – not only through its programs in more than a 800 locations worldwide, but also through the imaginative and transformative power of art taking shape in Venice.

The Home of The Human Safety Net is open every day except Tuesday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Winter hours) and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Summer hours). Free admission
