Generali joins the European Alliance for a Green Recovery

Philippe Donnet signs the appeal of Pascal Canfin, Chairman of the Environment Commission of the European Parliament to restart the economy through sustainable investments.

The #GreenRecovery initiative launched on April 14 by Pascal Canfin, Chairman of the Environment Commission of the European Parliament, now has more than 200 signatories, including Generali Group CEO Philippe Donnet. Ministers, MEPs, asset owners, banks, insurance companies, NGOs, trade organizations, unanimously convinced that the “reboot and reboost” of the European economy will pass through sustainable choices and investments, are committed to implementing and supporting a package of initiatives that will act as accelerators of the transition to climate neutrality and healthier ecosystems in the long term.

The initiative is based on the belief that the need to recover from this crisis will be an opportunity to rethink the society and develop a new economic model for Europe, resilient, more protective, sovereign and inclusive, in which the reasons of finance and the needs of the planet do not contradict each other. The efforts that will be put in place to fight the spread and effects of the Covid-19 pandemic should therefore not put aside the agenda of climate change and the degradation of the planet, in the belief that a battle cannot be won without the other.
