Milan – Generali reaffirms its leadership among global sustainability leaders, being confirmed for the eighth consecutive year in the Dow Jones Best‑in‑Class World Index and for the seventh consecutive year in the Dow Jones Best‑in‑Class Europe Index, formerly known as Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI). This recognition highlights the Group’s distinctive approach in terms of credible sustainability performance embedded into governance, strategy, risk management, and operational decision-making.
In addition, Generali’s sustainability commitment has once again been recognised by MSCI ESG Ratings, which measure companies’ resilience to sustainability risks and opportunities. The MSCI analysis, which involves over 17,000 companies globally, has confirmed the “AAA” ESG rating that the Group has held since 2022, including Generali as one of the “Leader” companies.
Marco Sesana, General Manager of the Generali Group, commented: “Generali has fully integrated sustainability into its business model and operations, continuing to act as a responsible insurer, investor, employer and corporate citizen. We are extremely proud to be confirmed once again as a global sustainability leader by the Dow Jones indices and MSCI, recognising the strong results we continue to deliver in this area. Under the ‘Lifetime Partner 27: Driving Excellence’ strategy, we are further accelerating this ambition through clear targets focused on supporting the green and just transition and strengthening societal resilience, with the goal of continuing to deliver profitable growth with a positive impact on people and the planet, and for all our stakeholders.”
The Dow Jones Best-in-Class World Index comprises global sustainability leaders as identified by S&P Global through the Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) and represents the top 10% of the 2,500 companies included in the S&P Global BMI index based on long-term economic, environmental and social criteria, while the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Europe Index brings together the European companies that are leaders in sustainability.
MSCI ESG Research provides analysis on thousands of companies internationally, assessing exposure to sector-specific environmental, social and governance risks and the ability to manage these compared to competitors. The ratings, also integrated into the MSCI ESG Indices, support institutional investors in evaluating risks and opportunities not highlighted in traditional investment research.
