  • On November 14 and 15, the We Rise by Lifting Others participatory art Festival with artist Marinella Senatore: talks and workshops open to the community

Venice – This autumn marks the start of a new season of events at The Home of The Human Safety Net a welcoming space open to everyone in the Procuratie of St Mark’s Square. Created to amplify the mission of the Generali Foundation, The Home promotes culture, social innovation and inclusion through experiences that help people discover, develop and put their potential into practice.

The new Public Programme of events, all with free admission upon reservation, offers workshops, festivals, activities for families and opportunities for discussion that turn the Foundation’s values into concrete opportunities for participation. Through art, dialogue and collaboration, The Home fosters encounters between citizens, visitors from all over the world and communities, creating opportunities for personal and collective growth.

The programme draws inspiration from A World of Potential, the interactive exhibition that invites visitors to recognise and develop their strengths. While the exhibition represents the starting point for discovering one’s own potential, The Home’s activities offer the opportunity to exercise and share it with others. Alongside it, Marinella Senatore’s temporary exhibition We Rise by Lifting Others explores the themes of participation, collaboration and shared growth.

“A community is strong when it values everyone’s contribution and creates opportunities for people to connect, learn and participate. Through the new Public Programme, we want to offer meaningful experiences that encourage people to draw on their strengths and build new relationships.” says Alexia Boro, Director of The Home of The Human Safety Net Home.

More than a calendar of events, the Public Programme is an invitation to take part in an open and inclusive community. The Home aims to be a place where people of different ages, backgrounds and experiences can meet, feel welcome and contribute together to collective well-being.

From this perspective, A World of Potential and the Public Programme form a single experience: the exhibition helps people recognise the potential within each of us, while The Home’s activities offer the opportunity to turn it into action.

Marinella Senatore: We Rise by Lifting Others festival

Among the season’s highlights, on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 November 2026, The Home will host the Festival We Rise by Lifting Others, dedicated to participatory art, conceived with Marinella Senatore. Over the course of the weekend, The Home will become a space for connection and collective participation, exploring how art can foster inclusion and social cohesion. The Festival builds on the exhibition of the same name, which grew out of workshops led by the artist with families supported by the Foundation and its NGO partners in Warsaw, Mestre and Palermo.

The programme begins on Saturday 14 November at 10:30 a.m. with the talk Participatory Art and Social Impact: Marinella Senatore will engage in a conversation with Pier Luigi Sacco, one of the leading international experts in cultural economics.

On Saturday afternoon (4:00–6:00 p.m.) and Sunday morning (11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.), the auditorium will become a performance space for two sessions of Somatic Movement and Body Percussion Workshops led by the artist and open to 150 participants upon reservation, who will create a large collective action through the language of the body.

For children and families

Helping parents spend quality time with their children and develop a more mindful and harmonious approach to parenting is the aim of the workshops and events for families, developed by The Human Safety Net Home in collaboration with Centro Studi Barchetta Blu, Kid Pass and Baba Jaga, with the aim of enriching the experience of the interactive exhibition A World of Potential.

Each Sunday of the month has its own event: the first Sunday features Collective Stories, collage workshops with Chilean artist Gabriela Bacigalupo, replaced in spring by music and movement workshops for parents and children aged 0 to 1, organised by Baba Jaga; the second Sunday introduces the new Born for Music, a programme that promotes shared musical experiences within the family from early childhood, as a tool to support children’s cognitive, linguistic, emotional and relational development and strengthen their bond with their parents; the third Sunday features Born to Read, read-aloud sessions for children aged 0–6; the fourth Sunday offers QUELLILÀ – Readings in Different Languages of the World, where volunteers from different countries read illustrated books to children aged 4 to 11 in their native languages.

Among the programmes structured over several sessions, the Perseverance Programme, organised by Baba Jaga with the participation of various psychologists and educational specialists, offers parents and educators a space for listening and discussion to reflect on their relationships with children, discover new educational tools and face everyday challenges with greater awareness; Take Your Time offers parents, while their children play in the next room, yoga with Julia Curtis, mindfulness with Lucia Babina, mindful movement with Paolo Scarpa and art therapy with Elisa Brumat; the Perspective Programme offers theatre workshops for children aged 6 to 11 in collaboration with Kid Pass, while Centro Studi Barchetta Blu organises workshops for children aged 0 to 6.

Major events are also part of the programme, organised in collaboration with Kid Pass: Halloween on 31 October, Adventures Between the Pages on 8 November, The Home of Curiosity in February for Carnival, The Home of Creativity and Innovation in April for World Creativity and Innovation Day, and the Kid Pass Days in May for International Day of Families.

For everyone

MovieLab returns for its third edition, a film series curated by sociologist Francesco Della Puppa, lecturer at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, under the patronage of the University. The series, Visions That Transform. Perspectives on Possibility, presents films and documentaries that start from individual stories to reflect on marginalisation, identity, migration, work and growth, with a discussion featuring directors, authors and scholars after each screening.

The scheduled events are: 16 December 2026, with Venezia Altrove by Elia Romanelli, attended by the director and critic Giuseppe Ghigi; 17 February 2027, with A tu lado by Cristiano Regina; 17 March 2027, with Il mio compleanno by Christian Filippi; and 21 April 2027, with Anywhere Anytime by Milad Tangshir.

Values in Music also returns: one Sunday morning each month, young musicians from Venice’s Benedetto Marcello Conservatory of Music perform concerts ranging from Baroque music to jazz. The first event will take place on 13 December at 11:30 a.m., for a Sunday morning dedicated to music and talent.

Venetians by Choice continues, a series of meetings with people who have chosen to live and work in Venice, contributing their talent and creativity to the life of the city.

Literature also takes centre stage, with two complementary formats: Values in Letters, book presentations in the auditorium, and ReadingLab, close-up encounters with authors in The Home’s co-working spaces.

In the field of social innovation, the Innovation Labs offer participatory citizenship workshops led by experts from different disciplines. The Squares for the Future series is part of this programme and forms part of ASviS’s Ecosistema Futuro programme. Completing the offering are the Future Labs, workshops in Futures Literacy (a competence that UNESCO considers key to understanding, anticipating and influencing the future), led by Mario Cusmai. The first event, on 1 December, is dedicated to teachers participating in RVS – Rendere Visibile il Sapere and in ASviS’s future ecosystem.

For schools

For schools, from early childhood to upper secondary level, the Home offers Cultivating Futures, a programme of experiential workshops and major events inspired by the A World of Potential experience. Through play, art, storytelling and collaborative design, the programme explores personal and collective potential, Futures Literacy, sustainability and transversal skills.
