Generali ranks first in the 2018 Integrated Governance Index

Generali takes the top spot in the 2018 Integrated Governance Index, which measures the integration of sustainability in business strategies. The award was presented at the Integrated Governance Conference.

Gabriele Galateri di Genola, Chairman of Assicurazioni Generali, emphasised, “This result is a valuable recognition of Assicurazioni Generali's commitment to sustainability, for which we have promoted and carried out important initiatives to tackle today’s biggest challenges, creating shared value for all stakeholders. It also recognises the excellence achieved by the Group in corporate governance, with its deep integration between the insurance business and sustainability issues, with the help of the Committee for Corporate Governance and Social and Environmental Sustainability, supporting the Board of Directors. Today's recognition is a further confirmation of the level of excellence that Assicurazioni Generali pursues in all areas in which it operates”.

A questionnaire with about forty questions was submitted to the 100 largest Italian listed companies, 47 of which participated in the 2018 IGI, an increase of 42% compared to the 33 companies of last year. The project, directed by “ETicaNews” and “TopLegal”, is the first observatory in Italy and Europe for sustainability governance, that is, the level of integration of non-financial variables (ESG - Environmental, Social and Governance) in good corporate governance.
