Generali and Banca Generali recognised in Europe’s Climate Leaders 2026 ranking
- The ranking acknowledges the positive progress made by Generali and Banca Generali in reducing emissions
Generali and Banca Generali have been included in the Europe’s Climate Leaders 2026 ranking, compiled by Statista in collaboration with the Financial Times, which recognises European companies that have made the most significant progress in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The selection is based on indicators such as the reduction of CO₂ intensity over time, as well as additional elements relating to transparency and climate commitment.
This recognition confirms the effectiveness of Generali’s approach to sustainability and of its Climate Transition Plan, which is fully integrated into the Group’s strategy. The Plan defines the commitments, levers, resources and governance mechanisms through which Generali promotes a just transition towards a net-zero economy across its insurance, investment and operational activities by 2050. These ambitions are supported by interim targets for 2030 and aim to foster a more sustainable economic and social model.
“Being included among Europe’s Climate Leaders is an important recognition of the progress made by Generali in tackling climate change, as outlined in the Transition Plan approved by the Group’s Board of Directors”, said Lucia Silva, Group Chief Sustainability Officer at Generali. “The results achieved demonstrate the effectiveness of our strategic plan and our ability to integrate sustainability into the core business, making a tangible contribution to a green and just transition”.
Banca Generali has also been included in the Europe’s Climate Leaders 2026 ranking, a recognition that reflects the Bank’s structured and long-standing journey, which culminated in the adoption of its Climate Transition Plan at the beginning of 2025. The Plan defines decarbonisation targets for both operational activities and the investment portfolio, with interim targets for 2030 and a long-term objective of achieving Net-Zero emissions by 2040, supported by specific decarbonisation levers.
“Being included among Europe’s Climate Leaders confirms the path undertaken by Banca Generali and its ongoing commitment to ESG, aimed at integrating sustainability factors into the business model and strengthening a framework focused on promoting responsible investments and creating long-term value. This journey includes the Climate Transition Plan approved by our Board of Directors, which sets out clear decarbonisation targets and guides the Bank’s evolution towards an increasingly sustainable model”, said Carmelo Reale, General Counsel & Group Sustainability at Banca Generali.
