Generali obtains ISO 45001 certification from DNV for its commitment to occupational health and safety
Assicurazioni Generali and Generali Italia have received the ISO 45001 certification - the international standard for occupational health and safety management systems - from DNV. This recognition confirms the full compliance of the systems adopted by the two Group entities and demonstrates their ongoing commitment to creating safe, healthy, and inclusive work environments for employees, suppliers, and all those who access company premises.
DNV, a globally leading accredited management systems certification body, positively assessed Generali’s integrated approach to health and safety, which is based on strong governance, a widespread culture of prevention, and a management system aligned with the highest international standards.
The ISO 45001 certification represents a strategic choice for Generali - not only in terms of regulatory compliance but also as a tangible expression of its sustainability and social responsibility model. Occupational health and safety are considered a fundamental right and a shared value, integral to the company culture and decision-making processes.
Everyone at every level of the organization is called upon to actively contribute to risk prevention, with a view to continuous improvement. Generali also adopts a “participatory safety” approach, extending its culture to partners and suppliers, with the goal of protecting anyone who is involved in its business activities and building a work environment where people’s well-being comes first. Fully in line with the role as a responsible employer, this commitment translates into investments, training, innovative technologies and digital tools for risk reporting and management.
Assicurazioni Generali branches in the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, the United States, and Hong Kong have also successfully completed the ISO 45001 certification process, issued by local certification bodies, confirming the Group’s global commitment to promoting safe and sustainable work environments.
Monica Possa, Generali Group Chief People & Organization Officer, commented: “Valuing our people and building an inclusive work environment is one of the pillars of Generali's strategy and culture. Creating a workplace where the safety and well-being of our people are always at the centre is a fundamental prerequisite for implementing this strategy. This is why the ISO 45001 Certification is another important confirmation of our commitment to these issues - through processes, training, and the empowerment of our managers.”
Gianluca Perin, Country General Manager of Generali Italia, added: “We act to be a responsible employer and have been committed for years to creating a safe, healthy, and inclusive professional environment for our people and all our stakeholders. The ISO 45001 certification confirms our ongoing commitment to go beyond mere regulatory compliance, creating a shared responsibility that first and foremost fosters awareness of risks and the impact of individual behaviour on everyone’s well-being. It is the trust pact at the core of our R.E.D. Working model, a strategy that has earned us Top Employer certification for the seventh consecutive year.”
Massimo Alvaro, CEO of Business Assurance in Italy for DNV, stated: “The ISO 45001 certification obtained by Generali demonstrates a strategic approach that integrates health and safety as pillars of the corporate culture. The verification process, conducted rigorously and transparently, confirmed full compliance with the international standard’s requirements and the effectiveness of the adopted management system. Certification by an independent third party like DNV adds credibility to the path taken, highlighting Generali’s commitment to continuous improvement and the creation of safe and sustainable work environments for all stakeholders.”
