The Human Safety Net: 8 Years of Impact
We are proud to mark the 8th Anniversary of The Human Safety Net—a movement of people helping people.
What began in 2017 with Germany as the very first country to join has since grown into a vibrant community spread across three continents, active in 25 countries across Latin America, Europe, and Asia. Today we are focused on creating impact through a network of 85 NGO partners in over 800 locations globally.

An open net
The Human Safety Net is built on collective effort. Over the years, volunteers, NGOs, communities, private sector and public partners have all become Actors of the movement, each playing a vital role supporting our mission. Their combined energy and commitment have made it possible to reach over 830,000 parents, children, migrants and refugees —unlocking their potential and creating lasting change in their communities. That’s why our movement continues to grow as an open net—because the more people and partners join, the stronger it becomes.
“Learning to read and write was the hardest part for me. When I arrived, I had very little schooling behind me and could not even read in my own language [...] now I have graduated from school.”
Ajmal, Joblinge, 2025
“The Financial Education programme changed my life. I now manage my family's finances with confidence – something I wish I had known before losing all my money in a fraudulent scheme.”
Sarita, Pratham, 2024
“After 18 months, my hair salon is running very well, we employ 14 people, both permanent contract and apprentices, and six of them are refugees.”
Danar, Social Impact, 2023
Looking Forward Together
Eight years is an occurrence worth celebrating, but it is also a reminder that our journey is far from over. As we mark this anniversary, we warmly invite you to join us in the movement. Together, we can keep unlocking potential, improving lives, and shaping communities where everyone has the chance to thrive.
