The lion by the sea

My story with Generali began in the mid-eighties in Alghero, a small seaside town in Sardinia. I was about five years old. During one of our walks to the harbour, I asked my mother why there was a red lion on the sign of a shop. I don't remember the answer, or my subsequent questions about why the lion had wings and a book between its legs. But that distinctive sign always caught my attention as a child.

The years passed quickly until autumn 2017, when an advertisement on Generali's portal caught my attention. Data Governance Manager. I didn't think twice and applied. Ten days later, here I am, waiting for the interview in front of the historic and majestic headquarters in Piazza Cordusio. It wasn't the last, at least three more followed. The funny thing is that, in the middle of them, a headhunter contacted me to offer me a job at Generali. There were actually two positions, but he felt I was not the right person for the second one. A few months later, I joined the parent company's data and digital team. Needless to say, which one I was taken for. :)

These years at Generali have given me so much. The strong sense of belonging to the Group and its history, which I feel every day in the colleagues I work with, is the aspect that has always stayed with me the most.

I have become part of a Team of incredible people, who have accompanied me in the most important professional and personal moments of life (I still remember the choreography on my wedding day!).

I have lived Generali's history in the winding and muffled corridors of Piazza Cordusio, and I live in its future working from the 36th floor of the new tower.

Of Generali's 190 years, the history of the last three also bears my signature.

Il leone in riva al mare

La mia storia con le Generali inizia nella metà degli anni ottanta ad Alghero, una piccola cittadina di mare della Sardegna. All'epoca avevo circa cinque anni. Durante una delle passeggiate verso il porto chiesi a mia madre perché ci fosse un leone rosso sull'insegna di un negozio. Non ricordo la risposta, né le mie successive domande sul perché il leone avesse le ali e tenesse un libro fra le zampe. Quell'insegna così particolare però attirava sempre la mia attenzione di bambino.

Gli anni passarono veloci fino all'autunno del 2017, quando un annuncio sul portale di Generali cattura la mia attenzione. Data governance manager. Non ci penso due volte e applico. Dieci giorni dopo, eccomi ad attendere l'ora del colloquio di fronte alla storica e maestosa sede di piazza Cordusio. Non fu l'ultimo, ne seguirono almeno altri tre. L'aspetto più buffo è che nel bel mezzo dell'iter, venni contattato da un head hunter per propormi una posizione in Generali. A dir la verità le posizioni erano due, ma per la seconda non ero a suo dire adatto. Pochi mesi dopo, ero entrato a far parte della capogruppo nel team di Data and Digital. Inutile dire per quale delle due fui preso. :)

Questi anni trascorsi in Generali mi hanno trasmesso tanto. Il forte senso di appartenenza al Gruppo e alla sua storia, che percepisco ogni giorno nei colleghi con cui lavoro, è l'aspetto che mi è sempre rimasto più impresso.

Sono entrato a far parte di un Team di persone incredibili, che mi hanno accompagnato nei momenti professionali e personali più importanti della vita (ancora ricordo la coreografia il giorno del matrimonio!).

Ho vissuto la storia di Generali nei tortuosi e ovattati corridoi di piazza Cordusio, e vivo nel suo futuro lavorando dal 36esimo piano della nuova torre.
