Driving innovation through collaboration: HITS and Swiss Insurtech Hub join forces in Milan

Generali advances its Corp-Up approach by connecting innovative startups with internal teams, embedding co-creation and agility into Group operations to drive impactful insurance solutions

On May 6th, Generali’s innovation hub House of Insurtech Switzerland (HITS) came together with its long-standing partner Swiss Insurtech Hub to take part in a high-impact innovation showcase hosted by Group Head Office and co-organized with Generali Group Innovation in Milan. As part of Swiss Insurtech Hub’s ongoing roadshow, this visit brought together forward-thinking startups, Generali leaders, and open innovation champions to explore how collaboration can accelerate value creation across the Group.

Representing HITS, our Open Innovation Manager, Mathias Vazquez Rodriguez, joined the event to reinforce our mission: bridging startups and business units through the Corp-Up model. The day featured six standout startups, each presenting pioneering solutions designed to tackle today’s insurance challenges - from operational efficiency to customer engagement and sustainability. Impressively, five of the six startups sparked immediate traction from Generali teams, opening pathways for potential pilots and partnerships. This milestone underscores the strength of our Corp-Up approach: not just scouting for innovation, but integrating it where it matters most.

Key insights from the session:

  • Beyond Technology – True innovation lies not in tech for tech’s sake, but in delivering tangible value to the business and its customers.
  • Building Ecosystems – The future belongs to those who open their doors. Meaningful partnerships often flourish outside corporate walls.
  • Involving the Whole Organisation – Corp-Up success hinges on buy-in across the value chain – from underwriting to claims, IT to distribution.

Events like these are more than networking opportunities, they are catalysts for cultural transformation. By actively connecting startups with Generali colleagues, we’re helping embed a mindset of co-creation and agility across the Group – remaining committed to enabling the innovation journey, one collaboration at a time.
