"A Tree for a Shareholder": Generali renews its commitment to the environment for the fifth consecutive year

  • In 2026, the project comes to the Torbiere del Sebino Nature Reserve in Lombardy
  • Since 2022, more than 17,000 trees have been planted in various locations across Italy

Milan - For the fifth consecutive year, Generali is renewing its commitment to reforestation and biodiversity protection through “A Tree for a Shareholder”, the project that turns shareholders’ participation in the Assicurazioni Generali Annual General Meeting into a tangible action for the environment.

Launched in 2022, the initiative provides for one tree to be planted for every shareholder attending the Annual General Meeting. Over the past five years, “A Tree for a Shareholder” has contributed to protecting and restoring several Italian ecosystems, supporting areas affected by extreme weather events, erosion and environmental imbalances.

Following the Annual General Meeting held on 23 April 2026, “A Tree for a Shareholder” continues to grow: since the project was launched in 2022, more than 17,000 trees have been planted. This milestone reflects the initiative’s continued commitment and Generali’s determination to create a positive and lasting impact in the local areas and communities where it operates.

In 2026, the project will continue its commitment to the protection and restoration of Italy’s natural ecosystems, extending its activities to the Torbiere del Sebino Nature Reserve in Lombardy and to several other areas across Central and Northern Italy. Restoration and conservation initiatives will also be undertaken in the Lio Piccolo lagoon near Venice, San Vigilio di Marebbe, Corvara, Val di Fiemme and the Tuscan hills in the province of Pisa, contributing to biodiversity conservation, strengthening ecosystem resilience and enhancing local natural capital. Consistent with the approach adopted in 2025, initiatives will be carried out across multiple locations with specific environmental needs, ensuring a targeted approach and maximizing their positive environmental impact.

As part of the activities carried out at the Torbiere del Sebino Nature Reserve, on 25 September a group of shareholders who attended the most recent Assicurazioni Generali Shareholders’ Meeting, together with several Group employees, took part in a tree-planting initiative in an area of significant environmental and landscape value. The initiative gave participants the opportunity to make a tangible contribution to the project by helping plant new trees, while experiencing first-hand its positive impact on local biodiversity and the preservation of a valuable and sensitive ecosystem, enhancing its resilience to environmental pressures.

The activities will be carried out in collaboration with CO2 Advisor, Etifor and WowNature, which support Generali in the planning and implementation of environmental protection and ecosystem restoration initiatives.

The fifth edition marks a new milestone in a journey that has expanded its reach across Italy year after year. From Alpine areas affected by Storm Vaia and bark beetle infestation to lagoon and river ecosystems, the project has supported targeted initiatives tailored to the specific needs of each area.

Through “A Tree for a Shareholder”, Generali connects participation in corporate life with an act of collective responsibility, engaging shareholders, partners and communities in protecting Italy’s natural heritage. This long-term commitment contributes to creating sustainable value for people and local communities, in line with the “Lifetime Partner 27: Driving Excellence” strategy.
