"A Tree for a Shareholder" continues to support reforestation
Five intervention areas in Northern Italy in 2025
Generali's "A tree for a Shareholder" project continues in 2025 supporting reforestation and the protection of biodiversity, expanding to five impacted areas in Northern Italy. The initiative was first launched in 2022, concretely connecting the participation of shareholders at the Assicurazioni Generali Annual General Meeting (AGM) to an important gesture for the environment: for each shareholder present at the AGM, a tree is planted.
The symbolic act translates into a real impact on the territories affected by extreme events, such as the Vaia storm that hit Triveneto in 2018, continuous processes including coastal erosion, and even environmental imbalance such as the proliferation of bark beetle in the Alpine ecosystem. The goal is to play an active part in the protection and restoration of the areas of the communities in which Generali is present.
This year the initiative makes another step forward. Following the AGM of 24 April 2025, which renewed the Generali Board of Directors and recorded a significant active participation of shareholders, almost 4,000 trees will be planted, bringing the overall total to approximately 14,000 trees since 2022.
A key development concerns the distribution of reforestation efforts in the Alpine ecosystem: while previous editions focused on a single location, starting from 2025, for the next two years, Generali will carry out reforestation operations across five areas in Northern Italy, including Trentino-Alto Adige, Veneto, and Lombardy. These activities are carried out thanks to the collaboration with CO2 Advisor, Etifor and WowNature, our project partners, which support Generali in the planning and implementation of reforestation and environmental protection interventions.
Specifically, this year 3,864 trees will be planted in Val Badia and in San Vigilio di Marebbe (BZ), in Val di Fiemme (TN), in Lio Piccolo in the Venice lagoon (VE), in the parks of the Serio, Oglio and Ticino river basins (BS/BG/MI), and in the Campo dei Fiori Regional Park (VA).
With "A tree for a Shareholder", Generali demonstrates how participation in the corporate life of a listed issuer can be linked to a gesture of collective responsibility, fully aligning with its "Lifetime Partner 27: Driving Excellence" strategy, through which Generali aims to create long-term sustainable value. This initiative connects the Group, its communities and territories through a vision of a more sustainable future.
