Building SME resilience

Generali and UNDP have joined forces to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and promote their resilience against climate change as well as other natural hazards.

Asian Development Bank Annual Meeting in Milan

In 2025 Italy hosted for the first time the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Annual Meeting in Milan. Now in its 58th edition, the meeting discussed ADB's development priorities and Italy's valuable contributions as a founding member and longstanding partner of the bank.

In this context, Generali and UNDP hosted a dedicated session to raise further awareness around the urgent need to build the resilience of Asian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), focusing on solutions that enable better risk management and how they can be supported through public-private partnerships.

SME EnterPRIZE France

The 2024 local edition of SME EnterPRIZE in France awarded three French small and medium businesses that stood out thanks to their sustainable business models during an event at the Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty.

Organised in partnership with UNDP, the event also featured a round table dedicated to SME resilience to climate risk, with the participation of experts from Generali, RiskCare.eu, and UNDP itself. Generali-UNDP collaboration in Thailand

Generali and UNDP are expanding their continued commitment to build the resilience of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises with a new collaboration in Thailand, building upon their global partnership. The initiative aims to enhance the growth and sustainability of MSMEs in the country, as they are crucial to its economic structure, and to help them prepare for future challenges.

Focusing on the need to develop strategies for both loss prevention and social protection, the partnership aims to create an SME Social Protection Framework, a risk assessment tool designed to improve the overall readiness of entrepreneurs and raise awareness of the risks they face whilst also providing strategies to mitigate these. This includes narrowing the protection gap for business operators through insurance solutions designed to strengthen business stability and sustainability.
