The ARTE Generali Private policy is being enriched with a new section designed for classic car coverage. This evolution broadens the portfolio available to private collectors, complementing existing protections for art, jewellery, valuables, contents, and buildings.

The offering is already active in Italy through the collaboration with Generali Italia, with plans to extend to France, Germany, and Spain in 2026. This expansion opens an attractive opportunity in a segment where only a few specialized operators are active today.

Why classic cars?

Classic cars are passion assets: emotionally significant, collectible, and often of substantial financial value. In Italy alone, there are around 4.3 million vehicles of historic interest, valued at approximately €103.9 billion (Source: Il Motorismo Storico in Italia – Rapporto 2023).

Collectors typically own multiple cars, use them sparingly, and invest considerably in maintenance. Yet this segment remains underserved, with only a few specialized operators. Expanding into this space represents a strategic opportunity in a niche but growing market.

Key features of the new coverage

The new section offers “All Risk” protection for collections of at least two classic cars, with a combined insured value starting at €150,000. A dedicated team of Art Experts provides training, commercial guidance, risk assessment, and claims support. Their role is to help agents engage effectively with collectors and ensure clients receive the most appropriate advice for the preservation and protection of their collections, including classic cars.

The introduction of classic car coverage reflects Generali’s ongoing focus on innovation and the ability to anticipate evolving client needs. As this interest for this type of coverage is growing, and the presence of specialized operators is limited, the offer of ARTE Generali will strengthen our presence in the passion asset segment.
