La gondola cinese

Ricordo ancora il viaggio di 6 anni fa, quando tutto era ancora normale, ho trascorso un mese in Italia. Mi ha stupito l'edificio di Piazza San Marco e non avrei mai pensato di lavorare in un'azienda italiana con una storia così importante. Quando si parla di Venezia, la cosa che ricordo di più è la gondola, ma non è mai strano per me perché a Hong Kong abbiamo qualcosa di simile: la Dragon Boat.

La dragon boat racing a Hong Kong, è stata un'attività tradizionale cinese di moto d'acqua a pagaia per oltre 2000 anni. La dragon boat è un'imbarcazione lunga e stretta decorata con la testa e la coda di un drago cinese. Durante il Tuen Ng Festival, squadre di persone remano furiosamente con un tamburo e uno spettacolo colorato. Da bambino guardavo le corse in TV. Oggi ho la possibilità di correre per l'azienda, ed è così strano che sia un'azienda italiana a introdurmi a questo sport.

Il dragon boat non è così facile come sembra, richiede lavoro di squadra e abilità, la forza è l'aspetto meno preoccupante. Più ci si allena e si scopre presto l'importanza della sincronia e del lavoro di squadra: per quanto si sia forti, non ci si può muovere velocemente con una sola mano. So che sembra banale, ma è così che funziona un'azienda. Anche se sono entrato in azienda da meno di un anno, ho già percepito l'atmosfera. Non solo promuovono l'azienda come partner a vita, ma il team si è effettivamente impegnato e ha lavorato insieme per raggiungere questo obiettivo.

Non so se la mia abilità nel dragon boat sarà utile in futuro, ma almeno quando andrò in Italia avrò una storia da raccontare, o diventerò un autista di gondole, chi lo sa?

The Chinese Gondola

I still remember the trip back to 6 years ago when everything was still normal, I spent a month in Italy. I was amazed about the building at Piazza San Marco, and I have never thought I will work at an Italian company with such great history. When you talk about Venice, I remember the most is Gondola, but it’s never strange for me because in Hong Kong we have something similar - Dragon Boat.

The dragon boat racing in Hong Kong, has been a traditional Chinese paddled watercraft activity for over 2000 years. A dragon boat is long and narrow boat decorated with Chinese dragon head and tail. During Tuen Ng Festival, teams of people paddle furiously with a drum and colorful sight. I watch the racing on TV when I was a kid. Today I have the chance to race for the company, and it’s so strange to have an Italian company to introduce me the sport.

The dragon boat really isn't as easy as it looks, it requires both teamwork and skills, strength is the least to worry about. The more you train and you will soon discover the importance of synchronicity and teamwork, no matter how strong you are, you can’t move fast with your single hand. I know it sounds corny, but it’s how a company works. Although I joined the company for less than a year, I have already felt the atmosphere. They don’t only promote the company as a lifetime partner, but the team actually committed and worked toward this goal together.

I don’t know if my dragon boat skill will be useful in the future, but at least when I go to Italy I have a story to tell, or become a Gondola driver, who knows?
