Generali and UNDP host regional conference in Thailand on Building MSME Resilience in Asia
Generali’s strong partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to build micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Asia has entered a new phase with the renewal of the partnership for another three years. General and UNDP held a regional conference titled “Protecting the Future: Building MSME Resilience in Asia” in Bangkok, Thailand.
The conference gathered high-level representatives from the Italian Embassy to Thailand, Thailand’s Ministry of Finance, a variety of local institutions, SME and MSME associations, Generali Top Managment, as well as leaders from the financial and insurance sectors. During the event, new joint research was unveiled that outlines a set of solutions to enhance the resilience of critical value chains in Thailand, Malaysia and India, including how to develop insurance solutions that support women-led MSMEs. The “MSME Health & Well-being Toolkit” was also launched, a publicly accessible tool to support Thai MSMEs in understanding and managing health risks related to air pollution.
Rounding up the event was the announcement of the winners of the UNDP-Generali Insurance Innovation Challenge in Thailand. The two winners, TruNord Technologies and Clean Technology and Innovation, will each receive US$40,000 alongside technical assistance to develop their innovative insurance solutions tailored to the local needs. Going forward, Generali and the UNDP will continue to expand their support for MSME resilience to more markets in Asia and build on existing progress.
