Generali China Insurance holds first Start Up Green Insurance Innovation Accelerator

Generali China Insurance (GCI) has held its first start ups deal flow, as part of the Green Insurance Research & Development Hub initiative.

Following the digital recruitment through a dedicated website and initial screening, the GCI Management Committee met with 11 tech companies covering different steps of the value chain for Battery and Energy Storage System (BESS), such as companies that harness AI and Intelligence Battery Management System providers.  Most companies had a high Technology Readiness Level that indicated that they were already well established in the Chinese market, and the companies were eager to expand their solution to other Asian and European markets.

The start-ups pitched their technological solution against 3 business needs developed by GCI. First, an AI-driven risk assessment for underwriting and claims for BESS. Second, servicing NEV batteries, such as through providing battery health and life-cycle assessment report as a value added service. And lastly, as a performance guarantee product. The result was three companies successfully identified as high quality candidates for running pilots within 2026 with preference given to AI and data companies.
