To safeguard work commitments and reconcile them with the needs of the family, our personnel can take advantage of flexible and/or part-time working arrangements, company crèches and, at some companies abroad, remote working.
Again in 2014, in Austria and in Germany, our strong policy commitment to reconciling work and family life led to us being certified as family-friendly.
With variations between countries, we give employees paid leave provided for by law, national collective agreements and supplementary company contracts for the following:
- death of a family member
- breastfeeding for new mothers
- maternity/paternity leave
- a child’s illness
- medical appointments and clinical tests
- study and exams
- care for disabled relatives
- blood donation
For additional flexibility, in line with the company’s organisational requirements, we also grant paid leave and/or recovery leave. Extended leave (unpaid) of up to 12 months can be given for personal or family reasons with legitimate grounds.
In the main countries where we operate, we have regulated forms of vertical and/or horizontal part-time work.
In Austria, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic and Switzerland, initiatives to reconcile work and family life include company crèches and/or kindergartens for employees’ children.
