France, where Generali has had a presence since 1832, is our third largest market, with a turnover accounting for 16% of Group's total premium income and an operating result comprising 12% of the total. Generali France has seven million customers in the country, a 4.8% share in the life market and a 5.2% share in P&C. The company is the leader in online savings policies.

Restructuring

In 2014, Generali France began its programme "We, Demain", a long-term strategic plan aimed at restructuring its business model, to achieve sustainable growth in profitability. The company has divided its organisation into four areas, according to customer type: “individuals”, “affluent”, “personal & small enterprise” and “commercial.” 

Life Business

In the first eleven months of 2014, life premiums grew by 7% compared to 2013, mainly due to unit-linked policies (+26%). 

P&C Business

Premium income increased by 1.5% compared to 2013, mainly due to home insurance (+4%). Car insurance increased by 1.5%.
