Group Historical Archives

The Historical Archives are made up of documents relative to activity carried out more than forty years earlier and destined for unlimited preservation to protect the interests of the producer, in memory of its history, and in the service of scholarly research. These Archives enjoy the status of “cultural heritage” of the Italian State—as they have been recognized and officially declared of “noteworthy historical interest”—and are under the protection of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism. They are accessible to anyone for free research purposes.

The Generali Group holds the documentary records of three historic companies, namely: Assicurazioni Generali, INA Assitalia and Toro Assicurazioni. The papers in the Archives are an opportunity to study the history of insurance institutes with a significant role both in Italy and at international level, and represent a precious source for an overall economic and social reconstruction. The Archive of Assicurazioni Generali, a cosmopolitan company ever since its foundation during the Hapsburg empire, of INA, the first state-owned life insurance company, and of Toro, the first private insurance company of the Savoy state, offer a fascinating stroll back through stories that made History.

Access to the Archives for guided visits and consultation of the databases and digital reproductions is possible by appointment.
