Ireland against fossil fuels

Ireland is going to become the first country to completely divest from fossil fuels. In fact, in late January, the Parliament approved – by 90 votes to 53 – the Fossil Fuel Divestment Bill, whose purpose is to remove oil and gas investments from Ireland Strategic Investment Fund. The bill, brought by the independent representative Thomas Pringle, is expected to pass into law in the next few months, after being reviewed by the financial committee. This is a strong signal from Ireland that proves its commitment to implement the Paris Agreement. A green revolution upon the Emerald Isle, whose challenge is to beat Norway that in 2015 had announced a similar decision regarding coal but that in practice did not meet all the expectations.
