In order to strengthen and publicize its commitment to ethical investment, the
Group signed up to the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI), an investor initiative in partnership with UNEP FI and the UN Global Compact which
aims to spread and integrate environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues
in the assessment of investments.
More than 850 organizations, representing some 25,000 billion dollars of assets
under management, have already signed up to the Principles. The signatories include
institutional investors (asset owners), asset managers and financial service providers.
The signatories are asked to uphold the following Principles:
incorporate ESG issues into investment analysis and decision-making processes;
be active owners and incorporate ESG issues into their ownership policies and
practices;
seek appropriate disclosure on ESG issues from the entities in which they invest;
promote acceptance and implementation of the Principles within the investment
industry;
work together to enhance their effectiveness in implementing the Principles;
report periodically on their activities and progress towards implementing the
Principles.
