In the Group’s multi-channel commercial structure, agency network (nearly 9,000 in the Sustainability Report area in 2010) play a primary role.
The network comprises for the most part contracting agencies, managed by independent
agents based in exclusive, designated areas. It also includes company agencies,
where the agent and members of staff are company employees.

As at 31 December 2010, the sales force in the Group’s agency networks in the Sustainability Report area numbered 90,369
(agents, sub-agents, self-employed agency co-operators and sales force on payroll).
Group companies use other channels in addition to Agencies to sell their products,
in particular, a network of over 47,000 financial advisers and over 28,000 brokers (14,000 of which in Germany alone). Bank counters selling Generali Group insurance products currently exceed 5,819 units, 3,907
of which are located in Italy. Some companies sell their products through their
website and call centre.
Bank sales networks also too sell their products through different channels: in Italy, Banca Generali
uses its own website, call centre and it also operates through 43 bank branches
and almost 1,500 financial advisers; in Austria, Generali Bank has one branch
at its headquarters and it can be contacted through the website and the call centre.
Its products are also marketed by 260 brokers and other financial advisers; in
Germany, Deutsche Bausparkasse Badenia operates through branches and financial
advisers; in Switzerland, BSI has 9 branches.
The regulation to the sales networks for the distribution of insurance and financial
products rely on the sales policy of the Group, which, in addition to making sure legislation on insurance brokerage
observed, is based on the principles of the Ethical Code.
