On February 2, 2012 the Generali Millennium initiative, carried out by Generali in cooperation with Altis - Alta scuola
impresa e società, was presented at aula Pio XI of Università Cattolica del Sacro
Cuore in Milan.
The event was attended by Gabriele Galateri di Genola and Giovanni Perissinotto, Chairman and Group CEO of Assicurazioni Generali, respectively; Ghyanendra
Nath Bajpai, Chairman of Future Generali India; Franco Anelli, Vice Rector of
Università Cattolica; Mario Molteni, Director of Altis; Sanjay Kumar Verma, Consul
General of India; Marina Ponti, Director for Europe UN Millennium Campaign; Giuseppe
Sala, AD Expo 2015; Elisabetta Belloni, General Director for Development Cooperation
of the Ministry of Foreign Affaires.
The project developed in India, where the Group operates in joint venture with Future Generali, is part of
a shared value creation logic, that Generali applies for the first time to its
interventions in favour of the community. The project consists of two main lines
of action: it supports the launch of micro business activities by disadvantaged people, mainly by women, and the development of microinsurance products. It values the activities of Generali in favour of the community where it operates,
thus contributing to the economic development of the poorest members of society
and providing those who would otherwise be excluded from the traditional market
with insurance products.
The project supports the UN Millennium Development Goals whose aim is to encourage development by improving social and economic conditions
in the world's poorest countries. Specifically, in line with the Group culture,
freedom from poverty is achieved through support for the development of entrepreneurship.
