Society and environment

In the humanitarian field, the company takes a clear lead in a number of activities, ranging from assistance to the disadvantaged, with special emphasis on social reintegration (San Patrignano Community) commitment to childhood (the “Luchetta, Ota, D’Angelo, Hrovatin” Foundation which supports children who are victims of war and the Tlalim project in Israel, which offers assistance to ill children unable to attend school), social awareness (various initiatives and education programmes to improve road safety in Eastern Europe and France, e.g. the “The driving license for children-pedestrians” project), scientific research and the fight against diseases such as HIV/AIDS (the DREAM Programme of the Sant’Egidio community in the Democratic Republic of Congo).
The Group established close cooperation with a number of academic and post-university training institutes, with a view to promoting scientific and economic training (Studium Generale Marcianum Foundation – academic institute of the Patriarchate of Venice, MIB School of Management of Trieste) also through frequent participation in conferences and seminars promoting a debate on world economic issues within communities and among students (the Nobels Colloquia and the International Forum The Economy and the Open Society”).

Regarding the safeguard of territory and environment, the Generali Group encourages projects and initiatives with a twofold objective: spreading awareness and understanding, and fostering active community involvement in environment protection (the “Energy Globe Award for outstanding projects and initiatives concerning the use of renewable resources and innovative technology; photography contest sponsored by FATA “Objective: agriculture” on the rural world).
